Modern Magic -- Simz Fanart

Inspired by the work of Simz https://linktr.ee/simz.art

After seeing the lovely art by Simone “Simz” Ferriero I wanted to see what it would be like if some of the usually isolated characters teamed up to adventure together. These three I imagine would fill the roles of a warrior, a mage, and a bard in terms of role-playing archetypes. I also wanted each one to have their own spirit animal companion, so I tapped an older design that had a ghost dog and gave it to the warrior.

Simz’s style is usually an painted / hand drawn look, so I avoided complex materials and stuck to just the raw difuse texture for everything. For the ghosts I used some simple gradient strips. Project began and ended within one month of free time.

Began with some simple meshes, some hand made, some from online.

Since the spirits dont really receive light or shadow, I just used gradient strips instead of painting them, ensuring a smooth color look and feel.

for posing I actually rigged the 3 girls to make fingers and twisting easier. I used AutoRigPro that I bought a few years ago it's a great blender addon and worth every penny.

since the bookshelf is usually against a wall, the back would be boring so I decided to but some credits on a poster back there
